This appetizing and healthy twist on the original Sloppy Joe is just as easy to prep and serve!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp green onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Add the ground beef and diced onion to a large skillet.
  2. Crumble the beef and cook until the beef is cooked thoroughly.
  3. Drain all excess fat from the pan.
  4. Stir together the tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, soy sauce, and seasonings (reserving the green onion) and add to the skillet.
  5. Bring to a low simmer and keep on low for 8-10 minutes.

Notes

SWAP lean ground beef for other variations of ground meat (pork, turkey, or chicken).
