This incredibly flavorful staple is excellent to add to tacos, enchiladas, nachos, etc. featuring a homemade taco seasoning! This recipe makes 6 servings (one serving = 100g or 4 oz of taco meat).
Ingredients

- 1 lb. 99% lean ground turkey
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
Taco Seasoning
- 3 tsp chili powder
- 3 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- In a small bowl, stir to combine all the taco seasoning ingredients.
- Spray a large skillet with cooking spray and set to medium heat.
- Add turkey and break up the meat for about 5 minutes, or until no pink is visible.
- Add the taco seasoning to the pan, then pour in the water and stir to combine.
- Reduce heat and simmer for about 3-4 more minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has evaporated.
- Stir the apple cider vinegar and brown sugar into the skillet.
- Let simmer for another 3-4 minutes, then remove from heat.
Notes
Feel free to swap out the ground turkey for ground chicken, ground pork, or ground beef.
